July 11-The workshop of making classic bamboo fan
The way to get along with summer
We want to provide you the opportunities to experience Japanese traditions as well as Ningyo Joruri.
In this workshop, we will invite "Marugame Take-uchiwa, Yumekaze" as an instructor of making Marugame Uchiwa(fan).
The uniquenesses of them are using flexible phyllostachys bamboo, also the fine and solid skills of craftsman. In addition, Awa washi which is thin, right and strong is used on its body. Moreover, we will use a bamboo teared into 60 pieces which is doubled compared with usual one. It will be appeared brown which is inside of bamboo and green which is the skin of them alternately.
The corabolation of these materials and skills let them make the most comfy and softest wind, also look beautiful.
Participants will try to stick Awa washi on the born and finish up. While you're waiting, the instructor will demonstrate of their practiced skills and introduce you about Marugame uchiwa.
Let's get along with summer with a special fan, and enjoy it.
