"Ningyo Joruri of Naruto"

 

The Muya harbor which is located in Naruto city, Tokushima used to bustling with many people as the entrance of Shikoku region. 

All of the specialities of Tokushima, sea salt of Naruto, Indigo dye grown around Yoshino river and wood form Southern part for instance, was gathered Muya harbor. Many hotels, drapers, stores of Japanese traditional sweets and theaters were built along the Muya Kaido; old road run across Tokushima east to west. Thus, different kinds of entertainments and cultures were cultivated there. 

Ningyo Joruri of Naruto is grown with the city, and shaped and  handed down by locals until today.

　Special Exhibition　

①the works of Minosuke Ohe 

　Puppets, noh masks(能面) which he made and repaired and 

   his paints will be exhibited. 

②The town scapes of Naruto

　The photos of townscape around Muya kaido, the theater of Ningyo Joruri will be exhibited. Also, the photos of salt making and people sightseeing will tell you how the town was prosper.
