The First Performance in Awa Jurobeyashiki！
Seiwabunraku theater (Kumamoto) and Awa(Tokushima)Ningyojoruri
Seiwa bunraku (a theater for ningyo joruri) based in Kumamoto prefecture was started around 1860. People learned technics and bought some puppets from
Awaji (a southern island in Hyogo) Ningyoza came there for tour. That was the beginning of Seiwa bunraku. Moreover, Tokushima and they have deep relationship. For instance, they own lots of puppet heads made by the first Tenguhisa and puppet makers based in Tokushima and Awaji. Thus, in 1992, the ningyo joruri theater Seiwa Bunraku which is the fist and the only one in Kyusyu (southern part of Japan) was established, and they regularly perform around 200 times a year. New title has been annually published as well.
This time, they will finally perform in Tokushima for the first time on 27th July. It will be also the first performance Higo Amabie Koiuta Imon which is a new title about Amabie, yokai in the deep sea. It is believed that Amabe can dispel an evil things. Not only that, Sambaso which is kind of a retual, and usually performed ceremonial occasion will be performed. In addition, a puppet troupe Johokuza based in Tokushima and Tayu and shamisen from Seiwabunraku will show us Keisei Awa no Naruto Act.pilgrimage song together from 14:00 on that day.
